A Little History ...
Keating Seed Farms Inc. is a family owned operation with
roots in the Canadian pedigreed seed industry originating
in 1951. Lyle Keating planted his first pedigreed seed crop
in the spring of 1951 and in the fall of that year harvested
45 acres of Certified Redman wheat and 59 acres of Certified
Exeter oats.
 |
Since that time, Lyle Keating has produced
over 43,000 acres of pedigreed wheat, over 16,000 acres
of pedigreed barley and more than 6,500 acres of pedigreed
canola. Mark Keating has served as director with the Manitoba
Seed Growers' Association and was one of the first investors
in both Canterra Seeds Ltd. and Quality Assured Seeds.
Investment in these two leading seed distribution companies
as well as continued membership in Secan Association provides
Keating Seed Farms Inc. and its customers access to a
wide range of the world's premier plant genetics today
and for many years to come. |
Together, Lyle and Mark Keating possess a combined 65 years
and over one hundred thousand acres of successful pedigreed
seed production. Their current operation consists of approximately
6750 cultivated acres, of which roughly 80% is devoted to
the production of pedigreed seed of Canadian agriculture's
most popular varieties of cereals, oilseeds and pulses.
